Obama's War on Oil

How important is the Oil Industry to the national economy? Let’s look at a few facts.

First off Oil as it turns out is a very useful base product. From a single barrel of oil (42 gallons) you not only get gasoline (19.36 gals) which we all put into our cars but they also refine Diesel fuel and Jet fuel. This accounts for only about 33 of the 42 gallons in the standard barrel of oil.

That remaining 9 gallons of oil is used to make many, many items. They are called “petrochemicals” a byproduct of distilling oil further is the production of ethylene and propylene. These are the backbone of the huge petrochemical industry.

Ethylene and propylene are used to produce plastics. Plastics in many forms have literally revolutionized our lives. Used in everything from cookware to blood bags, from computers to carpeting. There is virtually noting that does not benefit from the many forms of plastic.

The petrochemical industry employs more than 7 million people in this country this is over and above the 2 million jobs directly related to oil and gas production (these are the oil and gas field jobs, and those employed in the first tier refineries).
Plastics includes: bottles, laminated table/counter tops and flooring,, appliances, toys and medical equipment (including artificial joints, prosthesis as well as the tubing and surgical equipment). More than 1 million people work in the plastics industries and increases as a component of the national GDP by more than 2% per year.

Derivative oil based products include asphalts, dyes, waxes, lubricants and the base for paints and of course tires (car and truck) which are all “artificial” rubber.

Cosmetics include all the dyes, colorants and aromatics which are re-applied to other plastic or derivative (in the case of color agents of paint).

All of these industries are included in that 7 million job count. All of these products are directly affected by the price of the barrel of Oil. The pain of high oil goes beyond the gas pump that we all feel.

Begging to curry favor with the far left the Obama Administration has embarked on a considered effort if not to destroy the Oil Industry at least to hobble it to the point of near non-existence. The Administration is vested in high energy prices as a way to make Wind and Solar (supposed “Green” energy) more attractive.

The Administration has worked hard to restrict access to both oil and natural gas fields where many new jobs would be created. At the same time, drawing oil locally or at least in this hemisphere would reduce our multi-billion dollar to Middle Eastern nations for their oil. Witness the near total ban on re-opening drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and all the effort this Administration has expanded in trying to keep oil drilling a thing of the past in that region. All to the detriment of the many tens of thousands that depend on those jobs.

At the same time the EPA is on the way to adopting regulations that would restrict the development of new oil and gas fields, new and improved refinery plants which all would spur new jobs and reduce the cost of the raw material to the many industries that we rely on, not just the gas for our cars.

All of these initiatives pushed by the Administration (High energy prices, restricted access to the raw resources itself and the overreaching EPA regulations) is a concerted effort to cripple the oil and gas industries. With little or no regard to how the public feels or to its needs. No one can deny that high energy prices ripple into the fabric of our society.

That barrel of Oil is used many times in our integrated economy so that the high price must be factored into the ultimate cost of items purchased by the consumer many times. Not just in the transportation of the finished product to market, in many cases the actual manufacturing of the product is done in plants or with methods that rely on oil or petrochemicals.

There is no questioning that we are an oil economy. The fact that the Obama Administration is at war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Semolina (albeit a low yield, low intensity) he is also at war with the Oil and Natural Gas resources within this country.

We are blessed with enough of both to make the country completely independent of foreign oil. If only the envorowinnies would let us.

Wind Power Blows

This is why I don’t want one of these in My Backyard! Nuke Power Plan, fine I have one of those (our locale here in the Swamp is inside the 10-mile radius of the Limerick Generating station).

Can you imagine what it takes to put out a fire way up there especially in a rural community where the Fire Fighters are volunteers and equipped with vehicles more equipped to handle structure fires. My township only a few years ago invested in a Ladder Truck that allows the volunteers to get up to the third floors, which is the size of the largest structure in about 100 square miles of here.

And what about all the toxic gas given off by the burning of the fiberglass turbine blades? I hear that stuff is really bad for you.

And since I am a “real” environmentalist I despair at the deaths of defenseless and innocent Birds that are killed by the hundreds of thousands (in this country alone) by Wind Turbine blades.

Victims of Green Idiots:

I read somewhere that more than 1 million birds are killed in Spain alone and that country is only the size of Texas. And did you hear how many real-money-paying Jobs were killed by that Green revolution there!! Yeah, 2.2 real jobs are lost for every Green Job created and since the Government has to subsidize those Green Jobs the true impact is far greater since you have to seize more Tax money from the Working to funnel into the subsidized Green Job to keep it around. As soon as that Government money runs out, the Job ends and the person with that Job goes on Public Assistance.

That is another great benefit to the Green Revolution that no one wants to talk about.

There are lawsuits a plenty filed by Environmental groups trying to stem the tide of Bird Deaths. It’s almost comical. (More here and here.)

Now the reason for this post is all the bad press that Nuke Power is getting thanks to the Lefty-Media and their willingness to exploit the horrific incidents in Japan with the Fukushima Nuke Plant. The Media has been using anti-nuclear proponents as on-air experts on the Nuclear Power industry then using the air time to bash that industry. Their effort is to kill this industry and make sure not another nuke plant gets an operating permit in this country.

All the while, the Government Green Winnie’s led by the Dear Leader hisself pushes “re-newable” and wind energy. None of that works. Not unless you carpet the country with Wind Turbines and Solar Panels. And I mean carpet because at the efficiency rate of Wind technology (a mere 35%) you need many tens of thousands to replace the Nuke output.

And oh by the way, Wind Turbines do not reduce countries Carbon Output. The Dutch and now the Germans have released data that show for all their efforts to build and install Wind Turbines they have not reduced their Carbon foot print by “a single gram”. So, there goes that excuse.
Then there is the noise pollution, the shadow pollution and the stray voltage issue (I kid you not, cattle have been killed by the stray voltage generated by the turbines which are not properly grounded or their Earth Grounds become disconnected).

And every now and then the towers collapse.

Jeez, these things are as troublesome as a fair election in Chicago!!

New Name - Same Stink

Ok, so "Global Warming" was not working out for the insane Left in the world. With all the revelations from East Angelica University and what is now known as "Climate Gate" the Lefties renamed the great wealth re-distribution plans to "Climate Change". PresBO's Science Czar went one step further and is now referring to this as: "Global Climate Disruption."

"White House science adviser John Holdren urged people to start using the phrase during a speech last week in Oslo, echoing a plea he made three years earlier. Holdren said global warming is a "dangerous misnomer" for a problem far more complicaated than a rise in temperature." (Link to story here and another one here.)

Now they can use this phrase to justify all extremes in climate as having been caused by humans, American humans in particular since we use up so much of the Earth in our daily lives. This is the same smacked Ass that wants to "de-develop" the United States economy in order to reset it to "much more equitable distribution of wealth."

Yeah more of that communist agenda, Central Planning and governmnet ownership of bisness (GM = Yugo, you do remember the Yugo?). I thought all of that failed? Did I miss something here? Did all these academics, because that is where all these Lefties that are advising the PresBO come from, they surly don't come from the real America, miss the massive failures over in Eastern Europe? Did they miss the Soviet Union de-evolving into simply Russia and a bunch of independent countries?

The Left in this country is to be feared and we all need to do what we can to marginalize them in our political system. They are driving us towards Failure and this Holdren fellow is twisting science to justify that failure.

Getting Back Credibility

From Victor Davis Hanson: Five Green Commandments

Given the disturbing news about the growing green business empire of Gore, Inc., the private jetting by grandees into Copenhagen to harangue us about our incorrect lifestyles, and the expansive estates of prominent green advocates, it seems that the movement is in need of a formal code of conduct to restore the reputation of climate-change advocacy. Here are five simple commandments that all prominent global-warming activists need to embrace after the blowback from Climategate and various disclosures about the big money involved in green advocacy:

(1) No green public advocate shall have personal business interests predicated on climate-change remedies.

(2) No green public advocate shall fly in a private jet.

(3) No green public advocate shall ride in a limousine.

(4) No green public advocate shall live in a mansion.

(5) Every green advocate shall limit transcontinental jet trips to one per year.

I agree with the above with these small amendments.

(1) This should include his immediate family and he/she should be prohibited from working as a Lobbyist or for a PAC for a minimum of 5 years after leaving the Public sector.

(2) This should be modified to state that they have to use only scheduled commercial airline service, NO private OR Government jet travel allowed. Let's call this the 'Nancy Pelosi' rule.

(3) No green public advocate shall ride in any vehicle that is not fully occupied or larger than a Standard size sedan. No SUV's bullet proof or otherwise.

(4) The energy usage of any abode a Green public advocate should occupy shall not exceed the average energy usage of the average American home.

(5) Once again this travel shall be on a scheduled commercial airline.

It's been a bone of mine that the even the High Priest of Climate Change Al Gore looses credibility because of his ostentatious life style. Jetting around to collect his prizes and living in a house that despite being "green" uses more energy per month than the average American uses in a year just makes me think, "well he can't possibly believe in this stuff living like this!" On top of all that he stands to make hundreds of millions of dollars trading CO2 credits. Is this all a scam? How can I tell if the Goracle himself stands to be enriched if only the masses lived like he preaches?

Now with the facts that are coming out of the security lapse at the CRU we see a conspiracy to deceive the public as to the real conditions of the climate. How can we believe in even a daily weather forecast coming out of the East Anglia University, home to metrology research in all of Great Brittan? The lust for continuing grant money and prestige in the scientific community led many not only at the CRU but here at the Goddard unit of NASA and the Penn State University here in Pennsylvania to lie and deceive as well. The result, we can't trust them and especially any predictions they may have for the global climate debacle.

In my Naval Aviation days as a Ground Pounder, my credibility was everything. As an 18 to 21 year old Flight Deck trouble shooter the Crews that flew in the S-3 Hoovers that I worked on depended on me not only doing the job quickly and accurately EVERY TIME but that it was done safely, their lives depended on it. Did I account for all my tools, did I collect all scraps of metal or paper that I may have generated (known as FOD), did I secure the equipment correctly so it would not flop out in flight? These were all things that were assumed when I put my thumb in the air pointed UP. The 4 men who strapped their lives into that aircraft behind my work, interpreted that little symbol as my contract with them: I have done nothing to comprise your safety, give the mission your fullest attention.

We also lived by the axiom of: "One Aw-shi* erased a life time of Atta-boys you may have collected."

The manure out of East Anglia is one huge Aw-shi* and everyone having anything to do with that needs to be outed (on both sides of the Atlantic) and replaced. If the powers that be really believed in this Climate Change is killing the earth, then this is the very first thing they have to do to rebuild the credibility of their argument. Till then, they can all pound sand.

ClimateGate – Part 4 – Eating their own!

Oh yeah it is finally starting. This article at Climate Depot is all about the scientists calling out the lying and cheating scientists. They want them off the UN IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change) because their reputations now carry the odor of the con. The stink of distortion. Their credibility is in question and I hope so too are their conclusions in the many reports they have contributed to the entire story line selling "Climate Change" out of Global Warming.

ClimateGate – Part Three

First. Peer Reviews. This was what the sold the world so NO ONE else would go out and collect and examine data. This is what kept many more scientists off doing other research or keeping to themselves. No need to 'fact check' if we are doing rigorous peer review. Well it seems they were shopping their peers, finding supposed academics that were either ignorant of what they were doing so they coached them through the analysis or ones so onboard with the agenda that they went along.

Second. Code Analysis. They are taking apart the source code of the modeling software used by the Hadley CRU. Seems they embedded comments in there to help themselves figure out what was real data modeling versus code added to manipulate data. There are several smoking guns in there and they have only just begun to look it over. Another reason to leave programming to programmers and science to scientists.

Third. Virtually nothing from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN. Can you imagine any of these supposed "media" outlets completely ignoring an NRA report that was fabricated or heavily doctored in some way? Like this: Since January 1^st, Number of Homicides committed with a gun: 15, 502. Guns Used in Self-Defense: 2, 184, 463. Yet if that number was "cooked" or 'doctored', or 'manipulated' or let's say some padding of the data was happening, don't you think the so called MSM would be all over that? They would hound down every last person involved including event he guy that selected the type setting used on the blog where it came from. But not when it is a Liberal agenda item, suddenly it's the ole "Hear No Evil, See No Evil we will Speak No Evil".

Lastly. I want to laugh at all those political statesman who sold the Global Warming Bill of Goods to their states and passed huge taxes on energy and supposed carbon producing products so as to help bring down that non-existent temperature rise. Think California, they have been eating all hype like it was some going to make them all better.

Hide the Decline – the Video

You got to admit, when the crap hits the fan there is always someone with more creativity and imagination to come up with something funny.

I just which the MSM would do their job on this issue instead of ignoring it outright.

Settled Science

News from the OwlGore set, environmental weenies have their panties in a tight knot over the release of a huge amount of raw data from one of the most formerly prestigious Environmental Science outfits was stolen. The Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia in Great Brittan was hacked and their emails and hundreds of "supporting" documents were released into the great inter-tubes.

Seems that the raw interpretation of Global Warming data did not support the graph Al Gore was pushing around in his award winning movie. So they cooked them. That's right; they made up the numbers that supported the famous "Hockey Stick" graph that Al Gore has in his movie. You know the same one that got him the Nobel Pease Prize.

The response from the left has been predicable; they claim the data show only that there is debate within the Warming Circles. Oh, that's what passes for debate, which fake numbers you want to pass to the public.

How funny those guys in Stockholm look now, giving the Pease Prize to someone who was lying. Next they will simply be giving that prize away for someone who simply talks about good deeds. Oh, wait they did do that with Obama's prize!!
